Relationship and Dating Advice for Finding Love Online

Online Dating Cautions To Consider

Online dating can be fun and exciting to a person who has never considered this option before. It can lead to many new and exhilarating dates and possibly a life long relationship. However when beginning this journey, you must use some common sense. This does not pertain just to the safely of online dating, but your common sense should be taken into consideration when looking for the person of your dreams.

As the old saying goes, if it is too good to be true then it usually is. That definitely applies in this case. Someone that perfect probably isn’t going to be cruising dating sites at all hours of the night. Take it slow, and really look at the person, not just the money they make or their looks. Start small, maybe an email or two, and then move up to instant messaging if you’re comfortable. If everything they say is perfect then consider the fact that they may be embellishing or out and out lying to you to meet you. Hopefully this isn’t the case, and you really do mean someone who is perfect, but try to figure that out before meeting him or her face to face. Guarding your anonymity is of the utmost importance. Don’t give them your address or phone number within minutes of meeting them, find out who they are first. This includes not giving them your last name, place of employment, or even your email address before you are ready. If anyone pressures you for personal information then block him or her immediately and move on in your quest to find a soul mate.

Besides guarding your identity, guard your heart. Love at first type is not often what it turns out to be. They may be perfect on paper, but not in real life. Save the romance for when you actually meet. Don’t be swayed by someone’s words or actions on the computer, they may simply be lying. You need to take the time to find out that the person is, both online and person before deciding that he or she is the one for you. You should always request a photo if they don’ t have one posted. No matter how wonderful a person sounds on the computer you must have that initial attraction. Without that, there probably won’t be a relationship to continue with. Of course before meeting with them, talk on the phone. Not only does it show the chemistry you may have, but it also proves their social skills and communication level. All of this is equally as important as looks or words, if they don’t meet your expectations socially then you should find out before going anywhere with them.

Another way you may use your common sense is when it comes to the red flags. If you hear anger or impatience on the phone in your first conversation, this is definitely a warning sign. Look for that on the phone, along with providing consistent answers. If there is any doubt if they are lying or elaborating on the truth then end the conversation there. First and foremost you are looking for honesty in online dating. This will go a long way in helping you to decide if you are both right for each other.
